University of Silesia – project leader
University of Silesia in Katowice is one of the largest universities in Poland. It is made up of 12 Faculties and interunits and university-wide units. University of Silesia offers nearly 70 majors and more than 200 specializations. The school currently educates almost 35 000 students, post-graduate and doctoral students within stationary and non-stationary. Research conducted at the University of Silesia are extremely versatile and are seeking solutions to problems recognized in Poland, Europe and the world as a priority for the development of civilization. They focus on topics concerning among others: health and medicine, the environment and climate change, biotechnology, environmental protection and water management, information technology, nanotechnologies, materials and new technology, energy, include legal issues, social, related to education, transition cultural and national heritage and the arts.
Simula School of Research and Innovation
Simula Research Laboratory is an independent research institute located in Oslo, Norway. It is the study of communication systems, software engineering and scientific calculations. Simula was founded in 2001 and has since become a recognized research center of national and international importance. The main goal of Simula is to increase knowledge on basic scientific problems that are real value for society. The strong emphasis on basic research combined with the development of commercial applications. Simula School of Research and Innovation (SSRIs), also known as Simula School, was founded in 2007 in order to develop education research at Simula Research Laboratory. All educational activities conducted at Simula, from master’s to postdoctoral level are organized under SSRIs. Curricula include a number of additional programs to ensure the development of basic skills used in scientific work, the highest levels of international cooperation and commitment to the local community.
University of Augsburg
University of Augsburg was founded in 1970 as one of the young Bavarian universities and today has about 20 000 students. Within it there are seven faculties, including the Faculty of Mathematics, Natural Sciences and Materials of Construction, which includes three institutes – among others Institute of Physics. Founded in 1989, now there are 29 professors and 200 scientists. The Institute offers bachelor’s and master (in the fields of physics and materials science) and physics curricula for primary and secondary schools. The main area of research focuses on condensed matter physics, statistical physics, plasma physics, solid state chemistry. Every year, a PhD receives about 20 people. The Institute Transfer Center for Materials and Environmental Research, which is of crucial importance to cooperation with industrial partners.

Non-profit foundation EDU-RES
Non-profit foundation EDU-RES. The aim of the Foundation is to use and strengthen the capacity of teaching and research of Silesian Centre for Education and Interdisciplinary Research. EDU-RES aims not only organizational, financial and material support for the development of the Centre, but also to promote and develop educational activities, scientific and social, academic rapprochement with the socio-economic development and improving the quality and effectiveness of the education and science. The Foundation was established, inter alia, to support through its activities the Centre’s staff, to implement initiatives by educational and research to promote the development of innovation, but in particular to enable young, extremely talented people to develop thanks to the support through scholarships. Hence the acronym Foundation – because it supports education (EDUcation) and research (RESearch).
